Most of the hacking I've seen is attributed with players that boast the most ridiculous names. You can't read them because they are symbols.
To prevent these types of people from joining I've installed this mod:
FIXYOURNAME (1.0)
Very straight forward.
If someone joins and their character contains a letter that is not in the list of allowed characters, they are kicked.
Same goes for color codes.
